I have had the same problem here with a bergarten sage, a cherry sage and columbine this year. I put all deaths down to too much water. NG told me you have to use it at least twice, about 6 weeks apart, for best results. It seemed to stop the fungus finally, and then I put down some compost and the lawn is growing back into that area this year. I hope it works well for you, I hate that you lost so many big plants so quickly. That's so sad. I'm happy, though, that you have a pretty clear idea of what it is, have a good organic option for treating it, and that you seem to have some positive results. I hope that your plants continue to rebound. I'll have to keep the actinovate in mind - never heard of it before. We've laid down compost twice since we dug up the lawn, and the earthworms have moved in, but the soil's still far from ideal. The plants were all mulched last year with Sylvan Formula from the Natural Gardener. It's true, the fungus-prone spot does seem to stay more moist than other areas of the yard. Is water collecting there? It's been a cool wet spring (until now!) and this is definitely an issue with plants that want good drainage. The fungus is finding a happy home here.LindaCTGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10177442713100751193noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7567066498008776041.post-65311787661930516282010-05-01T11:35:50.699-05:002010-05-01T11:35:50.699-05:00Glad to hear that you figured out what was killing...Glad to hear that you figured out what was killing the plants.katinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15658859113915782535noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7567066498008776041.post-39914058928175592622010-05-01T00:24:12.881-05:002010-05-01T00:24:12.881-05:00Well, you solved the mystery for me too.
