  1. Enjoyed your photos. I have a lot to learn in that regard as I'm still a newbie to blogging.

  2. Red yucca? that sounds intriguing! I have the regular white, but forgot to put it on my bloom day post. I'll have to look that up.

  3. Marcia, get yourself a good point-and-shoot (Canon PowerShot makes several) and start clicking away!

Muum, the red yucca (Hesperaloe parviflora) is not a true yucca. The flower spikes are spectacular, and hummingbirds love them. Sadly, mine haven't bloomed this year. More here: http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=hepa8

  6. Absolutely stunning morning glories picture. And as far as I am concerned, the heads of grasses are blooms. Yours are beautiful.

  10. Thanks for the comments, everyone; I'm glad you enjoyed the photos. The pink and white morning glory vine is a newer variety called "Shiva", part of the "Something Old, Something New" " morning glory blend from Botanical Interests. (None of the heirloom varieties came up.) The yellow dwarf canna was purchased last year at Shoal Creek Nursery.

  12. Caroline, the garden blooms are beautiful! It looks like your garden is doing well in spite of the high temps Texas is getting. Do get a crepe myrtle or two immediately! We saw them in the South and came home to IL and planted them. Have never regretted that decision. What great color. They are not used as much here as they are further south. We get lots of comments about them. They are not blooming yet, but the buds are there! ~~Rhonda

  17. Holy morning glory!! They look enormous!

I love all the sunsetty colors! I believe that actual flowers are not the only "bloom". Love the spider web. I had a great one in my garden last year, but couldn't get a decent picture of it because they are so well camouflaged.

  18. Well, now I don't know if that's a Shiva morning glory or not! Apparently Shiva is more white than pink. Hmmm...I planted some morning glory seeds last year that never came up, maybe it's one of them? Unfortunately I don't recall what I planted last year - I thought I planted the old-fashioned blue variety!
