Last days of winter
Last days for gray winter skies,
last days for cold frosty mornings,
last days for cool-weather vegetables,
last days for sleepy owls seeking shelter from north winds,
last days for hot apple cider,
last days for warm coats, fuzzy hats and gloves.
I'm enjoying it while it lasts! When temperatures hit triple digits and everything's wilting this summer, what winter joys will you miss most?

This morning will be perfect to enjoy some hot cocoa. Maybe the last. Who knows? The 26 degrees on my thermometer was quite unexpected.
ReplyDeleteIndeed! I'm glad I ran out and covered everything up last night.
DeleteFrozen birdbaths this morning were a surprise! I've really enjoyed seeing my garden's bones this winter. It had been a while since the last two winters were so mild. This perspective has prompted me to edit and remove some things. It's been an exercise I have enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteThe cabbage photo is stunning :)
Your little Owl looks so cute on its perch. The hot apple cider looks wonderful! I'm trying to savor the cool temps while I can. Summers can be so brutal here in South Texas. I'm definitely going to miss walking around the garden without the mosquitoes. I'm not looking forward to those returning!
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm having a hard time imagining missing anything about this winter! Ask me again in 5 months.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post. Love the sleepy owl.
ReplyDeleteWe didn't have much of a winter here in SoCal. Finally got some much-needed
rain this week. I'm sure you're anxious for the sun.
Have a great w/end!
Great owl picture!
