  4. NoooooOOOOoo! And through the nylons, too! The melon must have smelled really good. We want so badly to be able to let our dogs sleep outside at night to be on nocturnal mammal patrol, but they just don't seem to want to, haha. If an opossum raids the garden, I'm blaming the dogs!

  5. hi - we have recently moved to the San Antonio area & we have just finished a few raised beds and have planted a few veg seeds. YIPPEE. I think I may be encountering some of the same things you are (possums, etc.) I came across your blog (somehow) recently and am just reading through it little by little. Saw your post on Pill bugs/roly polys and have a questions on diatonaceous earth? Is that the same stuff at Home Depot people use in their pools? or is there a "garden save" type? Thanks, Emily

  6. Emily, there is a garden-safe variety. I use the Rabbit Hill Farm brand of diatomaceous earth. I get it at Dromgoole's in Austin but I bet Gardenville or the Antique Rose Emporium in San Antonio has something similar. Hope that helps and sorry it took me so long to answer! Caroline
