The melon fairy
This morning, I was bemoaning the fact that my cantaloupe plants had lots of vines and flowers, but no fruit. This afternoon, I was thrilled to see that the melon fairy had stopped by to leave me a present.
I swear this cantaloupe wasn't here yesterday! It seems to have appeared while I was at a garden bloggers' get together. Seems like hanging out with Austin garden bloggers brings good luck! Now I just have to keep the possums from nabbing it.
What magical surprises have you found in your garden?

I don't know if I would consider it the garden fairy...
ReplyDeletea few weeks ago, I had gone out and self fertilized a watermelon flower. Then said watermelon disappeared. Then I found it on a different plant. Yeah. Now I remember, that's the reason I moved my dill planter--I needed to put something next to the watermelon so my husband wouldn't accidentally run it over with the lawn mower.
Also, my captcha was Failin. sigh.
I found a blue birds nest! http://www.thisgrandmothersgarden.com/2010/05/morning-surprise-today-i-peeked.html
ReplyDeleteI found two cucumbers! I had just about given up on them.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the possums. I have to make cages out of chicken wire and put over mine and stake them down.
